Billy Rhythm, the main character in the dancical Jitterbug!, is a hip-to-the-scene black gang member with dreams of becoming a professional dancer on Broadway. He's going to be played by a Flushing High Junior from India. Billy's girlfriend, Tharbis Jefferson, dances in the chorus line at the Cotton Club. She's going to be played by a Flushing High Junior from Guatemala. And Candy, my dangerous, short-fused gang member, is going to be played by a Flushing High Sophomore girl from the Dominican Republic. Oh, yeah, man! We are diggin' this casting!
