As the playwright, the more I consider the climatic dance number, the more I want to see choreographers "reaching into the future" for steps that no one could have imagined way back in 1931, steps that freak the Savoy Ballroom crowd out enough to lift my champions, Billy Rhythm and Tharbis Jefferson, onto its collective shoulders. The most natural way for this to happen is during the breakaway in the Jitterbug. In fact, I can see that segment changing each week, inspired by what's happening on the streets and in the dance schools-- like at the Broadway Dance Center where the above video was taken. Love the vogueing. Omari Mizrahi rules!
